Description
The society might asks me to fit in.
To blend in with the blindness,
to live the colourless world.
But I still have my vision,
I won't lose my dreams
I'll see through the spectrum--
The spectrum in my eye.
And I believe that one day,
The world won't be as colourless
I'm terrible at poetry. But meh. Actually, I was just sketching an eye, but I ended up doing this whole thing.
Might be different than I usually post, but yes, this is definitely something I'd draw traditionally.
School is sort of killing with months of tests non-stop. My head my actually explode. :I

Vision & Originality:
The idea blended with poetry is nice, and it works well; it's a good subject to try and tackle with art. The facial decoration continues the theme of 'retaining personality', which has become increasingly outwards in reaction to no doubt a dulling eye to see 'colour' - as can be seen in the left eye, which has since lost its colour. I'm in love with the idea and it's a great piece that voices that inner struggle of losing the ability to see magic in the world.
Technique:
Whilst well-framed I think that a little more contract is needed. The blacks are pure and so are the whites; this makes it a bit too sterile and in turn it takes away the impact of the coloured eyes because the B&W is just so strong.
A little dark grey in the hair would also break apart the blocks of black, as the hair has little depth otherwise. Considering the light source is 'face-on' it's natural that there would be some light cast onto the hair. Without this the image comes across as unnecessarily 2D.
I would focus on a less sterile environment, and not be afraid to loosen up and give some 'feature-character'. Other than it is a high level of work and you're clearly at the precipice of attaining a higher skill level. And that's why I went quite in-depth on the technique, because you're so close to hitting that next level of being awesome.
Impact:
An interesting and thought provoking piece that shows a high level of skill and an ability to infuse meaning. With a little more practice a higher skill level will be attained and it's well worth dropping a +watch to be around when it happens!
